Political Action Week Hits U of L Campus.
(LETHBRIDGE) Next week, The University of Lethbridge will turn its campus into an ant hill of activity, as student leaders direct focus to global, national and provincial issues to all Canadians.
For the first time in its history, The Students Union (ULSU) is pleased to launch Political Action Week (PAW), featuring informative tradeshows booths, inspiring speakers, a politically charged forum, and more.
This intensive three-day event, assimilating themes of Environment, Empowerment and Elections, takes place in a variety of locations on the U of L Campus starting November 14th.
Charlotte Kingston, VP Academic and initiator of PAW has designed this event to foster informed and critical debate among students at the U of L, with the hope of contributing to the formation of involved and informed citizens.
Im really excited for this week to take place. We have a lot of great events each and every day for students to get involved and active with, says Kingston.
Tuesday: November 14
ENVIRONMENT

Dr. Patrick Moore has been a leader in the international environmental field for over 30 years. He is a co-founder of Greenpeace and served for nine years as President of Greenpeace Canada and seven years as a Director of Greenpeace International. As the leader of many campaigns Dr. Moore was a driving force shaping policy and direction while Greenpeace became the worlds largest environmental activist organization.
Dr. Moore currently serves as Chair and Chief Scientist of Greenspirit Strategies, a consultancy focusing on environmental policy and communications in forestry, agriculture, fisheries and aquaculture, mining, biodiversity, energy and climate change.

Bill Moore-Kilgannon is the Executive Director of Public Interest Alberta (PIA). Prior to joining PIA, he worked in Ottawa as the Director of Campaigns and Communications of the Council for Canadians from 2001 2004 and he was the Executive Director of the Parkland Institute at the University of Alberta from 1997 - 2001. He was the coordinator of the Global Visions Festival from 1992 1997 and is also a documentary video maker (most recent production is a video about the music, art and theater of street children in Nicaragua).

Daniel Zopoula was born in a poverty stricken village in Burkina Faso, West Africa, the most illiterate country in Africa. At age 24 Daniel came to Canada. Assisted by Canadians who provided him with the opportunity for education and developing the substantial skills. This enabled him to begin realizing his role in his vision of eradicating poverty through building infrastructures to support indigenous organizations and programs which promote Poverty Relief and Community Empowerment amongst the poorest nations of the earth.
Daniel is founder of a humanitarian organization (Bridges of Hope) which is committed to empower indigenous organizations and leaders in their quest to achieve poverty relief and sustainable development in their communities.
