INSTRUMENT TECHNICIAN APPRENTICE
The University of Lethbridge Physical Plant, Utilities Department requires the services of a qualified 1st year Instrument Technician Apprentice to commence work as soon as possible. This is a four-year apprentice position consisting of instrumentation apprenticeship technical training and work experience.
Reporting to the Operation Systems Supervisor, the incumbent will be trained to perform skilled instrumentation and computerized building operation duties and will provide technical support in the maintenance of on campus buildings and associated hot water heating and cooling equipment and their dedicated supply and operational control instrumentation. All buildings are controlled from a centrally located Honeywell Building Management System.
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $2,252.53 per month.
(Wage increase July 1st, 2007)
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate must have a High School diploma or an equivalent level of education, a valid Alberta Class 5 Driver=s License and the ability to perform manual duties assigned including strenuous physical exertion. In addition, applicants will be required to work at heights and confined spaces in a safe manner. The candidate must have an interest in and the ability to keep up with the changes in technology and be able to maintain an effective working relationship with others.
Preference will be given to those candidates with an Instrumentation Technologist Certificate, and or a candidate working towards a 4th class Alberta Power Engineers Certificate and related work experience in a similar building operation environment, along with the ability to continue development of their skills.
