Lethbridge, AB - The Pronghorns Men's Basketball program is honored to add Perry Mirkovich to its coaching staff.

Perry played five years for the Horns from 1975-1980 and was named to the Canada West all-star team in his last three seasons, which included conference-scoring titles in 78-79 and 79-80. In his final season, Perry was named to the All-Canadian team and U of L Male Athlete of the Year. Mirkovich was a member of the 1980 Canadian National Team and although Canada boycotted the 1980 Moscow Olympics, Perry is officially recognized as a Canadian Olympian. That same summer, the Portland Trailblazers selected Perry in the sixth-round of the NBA draft. Perry played all his high school and university hoops in Southern Alberta.

Perry has already had an immediate impact in the pre-season training of the 2004-2005 edition of the Horns working with players one on one and in the team practice setting. Perry is also a leading member of the Pronghorn Courtside Club entering its 3rd year as an organization helping support the university Horns.

Perry Mirkovich is married to Sharmaine and has two children Kayla and Kelsey.

The Horns also return long time Pronghorn assistant (14 years) Rick Pawlak, along with Chad Watson (3years). Chris Delano and Craig Price round out the coaching staff as student assistants.

The Horns see their first preseason action tonight in Taber against the Medicine Hat College Rattlers. Women's tip off is at 6:30pm and the Men to follow at 8:30.

The Men will also face the LCC Kodiaks in Picture Butte on Thursday at 8:00pm
