Calgary, AB - The Calgary Flames announced today an exhibition game between Flames prospects and the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns.
"As part of our development camp for our prospects, we will be playing an exhibition game against the University of Lethbridge," said Flames Head Coach & General Manager Darryl Sutter. "Hockey at the CIS level does not receive the credit it deserves. It is entertaining, fast and physical with many talented players. This game will be a good test for our rookies as they will compete against older and more mature players."
The game is scheduled for Tuesday, September 14th at the Enmax Centre in Lethbridge, AB. Game time is 7:30 p.m. The Flames roster will be made up of draft picks from the past three years and recent free agent signings. Hockey fans in Lethbridge should expect to see familiar players, as the Flames line-up will consist of many names from western Canada. Rosters for both the Flames and the Pronghorns will be announced in early September. Complete details on the Flames development camp and the 2004 training camp will also be provided at that time.
"It is important to us that our training camp is open for our fans to come and get an early look as the team prepares for the upcoming season," said Flames President & CEO Ken King. "In addition to our fans in Calgary, we receive tremendous support from southern Alberta and we are excited to bring a portion of our camp to Lethbridge."
"This is an excellent opportunity for our program and we are hoping that the event benefits both the Flames and Pronghorns immensely," said University of Lethbridge Athletics Coordinator Travis Grindle. "Southern Alberta is Flames country and they're proving it by stepping up and supporting amateur hockey in this area, including the Horns."
Ticket prices for the game are: Adult- $14, Student- $10 and Child- $6.
