Undergraduate learning opportunities at Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre
Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre, is a field station jointly owned and operated by five Western Canadian universities (University of Calgary, University of Alberta, University of Victoria, UBC, Simon Fraser University). Since 1972 it has offered undergraduates the opportunity to participate in hands-on intensive summer field courses. Courses are university-credit and cover a diversity of unique and fascinating topics based on coastal ecosystems. Courses are 3 or 6 credits; transfer credit is available from member universities for non-member students.

Summer 2007 courses include: Biology of Marine Birds, Ecology of Marine Symbioses, Marine Behavioural Ecology, Marine Invertebrate Zoology, Biodiversity of Marine Algae, Salmonid Ecology and Assessment Techniques, Coastal Biodiversity and Conservation, Molecular Ecology and Evolution in the Intertidal, Community Ecology, Biology of Marine Fish, and Scientific Diving.
Summer 2008 courses include: Biology of Marine Mammals, Temperate Rainforest Ecology, Marine Invertebrate Zoology, Biodiversity of Marine Algae, Biological Oceanography, Marine Conservation, Conservation Ecology, Evolution & Adaptation in the Intertidal, Crustacean Biology, Biology of Sponges.
Course credit is available on a transfer basis from the University of Victoria for students from non-member institutions.
