Destination Exploration introduces new clubs for Fall 2017!

New! Wednesday STEM Club, Friday Codergirl Club, Saturday Robotics & Engineering Club

Our clubs engage children in a variety of hands-on science activities, games and crafts and are a unique way for parents to meet their childcare needs while keeping their children learning and having fun. Our clubs are one of our most popular programs and space is limited so don't wait to register!

STEM Club

What: STEM Club offers participants a chance to experience amazing hands-on activities and experiments in a fun learning environment. Are you in grades 6 to 8 and have a free Wednesday afternoon? Join us for exciting and fun, hands-on science activities and experiments. This club will be youth driven, with topics chosen by participants.

Who: Children in grades 6 - 8

Where: The Alberta Water & Environmental Science Building, University of Lethbridge

When: Wednesdays, 2:45 to 4:40 pm, October 4 to November 29, 2017.

Why: Because science is awesome!

Tech Maker Club

What: In Tech Maker club, students will build, design, create, program and DIY with all sorts of technology. We will delve into electronics, robotics, 3D printing with a focus on using and learning practical skills. Contribution of past innovators to electronics, computer engineering, and technology will be highlighted, along with the importance of gender parity in STEM.

Who: Children in grades 3 to 6.

Where: Anderson Hall, University of Lethbridge

When: Fridays, 1:30 - 4:00 pm, September 29 to December 1, 2017

Codergirl Club

What: Codergirl will introduce participants to computer science, technology, digital literacy and citizenship in a safe and friendly environment. Women’s contribution to electronics, computer engineering, and technology will be highlighted. Club participants will help direct the focus of club topics and direct their own learning fun!

Who: Children in grades 3 to 6.

Where: Anderson Hall, University of Lethbridge

When: Fridays, 1:30 - 4:00 pm, September 29 to December 1, 2017

C3 Club (Comics, cartoons, and culture)

What: Do you like to draw? Tell stories? Be creative? Join our new C3 Club! This club focuses on comics, cartoons, and culture. Create your own stories and movies with emotion and personality, while making new friends and learning new skills!

Who: Children in grades 5 to 8.

Where: The Alberta Water & Environmental Science Building, University of Lethbridge

When: Fridays, 1:30 - 4:00 pm, September 29 to December 1, 2017

Robotics & Engineering

What: In this club, participants will get to design, build, and program their own robots. From simple to complex technologies, we will delve into the wonderful world of electronic engineering and how it relates to our everyday life.

Who: Children in grades 3 to 12 (will be split into Jr and Sr groups)

Where: The Alberta Water & Environmental Science Building, University of Lethbridge

When: Saturdays, 9:30 - 11:30 am, September 30 to December 2, 2017

Why: Because we are we love to build and program!
