Wellness Lunch Walk/Run Club

Lace up at lunch with the Wellness Lunch Walk/Run Club!

Trial Duration- February 1- April 30, 2016

In an effort to promote wellness and physical activity on campus, the Wellness department and the Sports & Recreation department are offering a program to allow University staff and faculty to utilize the indoor track during lunch for a nominal fee. In a recent wellness survey this option was suggested for staff who don’t have a full gym membership but would utilize their lunch hour to walk or run if the option was offered for free or at a reduced rate.

Faculty and staff interested in participating in the ““Wellness Lunch Walk/Run Club” can sign up at the Customer Service desk in the Sports & Rec Centre. Staff wanting to be part of this program would pay a nominal fee of $5/month for lunchtime access to the indoor track and can pay monthly or pay all three months up front.

This fee and program only covers use of the track and use of the weight room and other fitness implements are not permitted unless a Sport & Rec pass is purchased.

The track will be open from 11 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. to accommodate various work/lunch schedules. Staff are asked to sign in at the fitness centre. An employee gets one entry for every day they use the track and will be entered to win a draw prize each month!

At the end of the trial, we will review how many people signed up for the club and how often the track was utilized through the check in sheets. Using that data, and the thoughts on the program from Sport & Rec, we will discuss making it a permanent program.
