Connie Chaplin, Admin Assistant - Office of the Vice-President, Research
In 1996 I left a rural lifestyle to attend the U of L. Through most of my time as a student I was also employed by Housing Services and I joined that department as a full-time employee following convocation in 2002. In 2009 I moved to my present position as Administration Assistant to the VP and Associate VP, Research. My team elements are: expanded orientation program, statement of intent, and defined roles, expectations & development opportunities and engagement survey. I am enjoying the experience of being on the People Plan committee as it is a great opportunity to meet and work with coworkers from other departments on campus, plus it is a unique subject matter. I believe that people are the single most important asset in any organization and having some input into making the University of Lethbridge an even better place to work is an interest close to my heart.
My interests outside of work include quilting and any related fibre arts and I am an active member of the local quilt guild plus two other informal groups of creative quilters. Photography, gardening, reading, home improvements and spending time with my family and friends are other enjoyable pastimes. The best time of all is spent with my two darling grandsons who live 2 hours down the road in Calgary. That’s a trip that Grandma makes at every opportunity.
