Suzuki Violin School

Our Suzuki Violin School is appropriate for children as young as three years of age and is based on the philosophy that every child can learn to play the violin when placed in a nurturing learning environment. The Conservatory’s Suzuki school strives to nurture the growth of the young musician.

Being part of the Suzuki School includes a combination of private violin lessons and bi-weekly fun group activities. Through both activities, your child will learn to play the violin, develop strong listening and memory skills, excellent practice habits and learn to work with others. This program includes two fees: private one-on-one lessons, arranged at a mutually convenient lesson time, and group fees which include bi-weekly group classes (scheduled every second Saturday - see below). As part of the group fee, students can also participate in ‘play-ins’ (fun group gatherings for Suzuki students) and 2 semester-end concerts per year. Both fees are a mandatory part of the Suzuki school.

Those learning the Suzuki repertoire with a private teacher outside of the Conservatory of Music are more than welcome to participate in our group lessons.

Please contact the Conservatory of Music to set up your private lesson times with your certified Suzuki instructor: or 403-329-2304.

For more information about the Suzuki method, visit the website of the Suzuki Association and the Southern Alberta Suzuki Association. Please contact the Suzuki School coordinator, Airdrie Robinson for more information, or

Parent testimonial, September 2015:

"I just wanted to drop you a quick note, and tell you what a great time [our child] had at group lessons last Saturday. He was a little nervous when he first came to group lessons. Having a group with kids his age has really made him relax, so he could enjoy what he was being taught. He is looking forward to the next one! Thanks for everything you do."
