Program Outline

Primary skill development

Participants will develop skills in the primary areas of vocal study, including:

  • Solo repertoire
  • Choral literature
  • Staged works from musical theatre, operetta, and operas

Intensive one-on-one training

Our highly qualified SAVE faculty will provide private voice lessons, coachings, and master classes. Additional classes will include:

  • Movement
  • Lyric diction
  • IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet)
  • Acting techniques
  • Stage makeup

Public performances

The SAVE program culminates in two final concerts which represent both the art of song and music for the stage:

  • "Summersong - An Art Song Soiree" will take place on Friday, August 3 at 7:30pm at the University of Lethbridge Recital Hall (W570) and will feature participants performing solos from the concert song repertoire. Admission to this concert is by donation.
  • "Showstoppers - An Evening of Songs and Scenes from Musical Theatre, Opera and Operatta" will take place on Saturday, August 4 at 7:30pm at the University of Lethbridge Recital Hall (W570). The audience will be treated to excerpts from musical theatre, operetta, and opera. Tickets are $10 each and will be available at the Conservatory of Music front desk at CASA (230 8 Street S) and at the door the night of the performance.

Capacity for both performances is 250, so please consider purchasing your tickets early.
