Lloyd McArton joined the University of Lethbridge in 2023 as Assistant Professor of Music Education after completing his PhD from University of Toronto. Before moving to Lethbridge, he taught music in Montessori schools and was an instructor for popular music and music education courses at the University of Toronto.

Outside of his training in classical saxophone performance, Lloyd has spent most of his musical time composing, recording, producing, improvising, and performing music in original indie / rock / electronic settings. He teaches music with a focus on creation and reflective experimentation, whether through acoustic instruments or computers. As a DIY-focused musician and educator he works with students to develop creative musical skills and autonomy for lifelong musical learning. He also enjoys coaching/producing collaborative musical projects, particularly in digital and amplified settings.

Music Production Lessons can include any combination of the following topics:

  • Digital Music Production and Sound Design

  • Audio Recording and Mixing 

  • Songwriting and MIDI Composition 

  • Coaching bands (rock, pop, folk, etc.)
