Management professor Dr. Vishaal Baulkaran is doing more than paying lipservice to the cause of cancer research - he's cultivating a stylish "'stache" on his upper lip in support of men's health research.
Dr. Baulkaran - week one
Dr. Baulkaran has formed a team for "Movember" - a worldwide event to raise awareness and funds for men’s health and prostate cancer research. Participants simply grow a mustache for the entire month of November and have friends and family donate to research in their name.
The decision to participate in the event was one that Dr. Baulkaran made simply because of a personal conviction.
"I don’t have a personal story or anything like that. Men’s health and awareness about prostate cancer is important so I decided to join."
If you would like to join Dr. Baulkaran's team as a "Mo Bro" and/or support his efforts with a donation, you can visit his Movember home page at http://ca.movember.com/team/787737 "Mo Sistas" are also encouraged to get involved on behalf of the men in their lives.
The funds raised are directed to programs run directly by Movember and their men’s health partner, Prostate Cancer Canada. Together, these two channels work together to ensure that Movember funds are supporting a broad range of innovative, world-class programs in line with strategic goals.
Movember initiatives are taking place across the world, with Canada already leading in donations with over $10 million. Check Movember leaderboards here.
