Alberta-Smithsonian Internship Program

The $300,000 Alberta-Smithsonian Internship Program creates opportunities for 50 Alberta post-secondary students to gain valuable international academic and life experience at one of the 28 Smithsonian centres throughout the world.

Placements will be scheduled throughout the academic year. Most will take place between 1 May and 31 August. Details about the program and the application process will be announced once more details about the program are finalized. Keep checking this web page for updates on this new program.

AFS Interculture Canada
The organization offers co-op and community service programs for adults age 18 - 55.
The International Traineeship Exchange Program (ITEP) allows students and recent graduates to gain hands-on international experience related to their fields of study and experience. The program is open to candidates with a management skills background. The internships vary in duration.

Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada Young Professionals International Program
Intended to provide Canadian youth with the opportunity to acquire international experience relevant to their particular fields of study. Canadian citizens who have completed a degree and are under the age of 30 may be eligible to apply.
This Australian non-profit organization offers variety of internship opportunities in Australia and New Zealand.
Australian National Internships Program (ANIP)
This program is available to both undergraduate and graduate university students. ANIP provides the opportunity for interns to gain experience through their placements in the Australian (Federal) or the Territory Parliaments, the Australian Public Services, or with non-government organizations (including lobby groups).
Boston University International Programs
Along with study abroad programs, internship programs are offered. Students participate in academically directed internships and fieldwork in host countries. Interns are linguistically and culturally immersed while learning about their field of interest. Program fees apply.

Canadian Crossroads International Youth Internship Program (IYIP)
The program offers young post-secondary graduates an opportunity to gain work experience in CCI's partner organizations in Africa and South America. The objective is to offer persons aged between 19 and 30 years an enriching professional experience in the field of international development.

Canadian Embassy Internship Program (Washington)
The program is designed to provide undergraduate students with an opportunity for involvement in governmental affairs, as well as provide a general understanding of the Canada-U.S. bilateral relationship through the dynamics at work in the Embassy.
Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) International Youth Internship Program
CIDA's International Youth Internship program is an employment program for young Canadian professionals (ages 19 to 30 inclusive). Internships are a minimum 6 months long and include at least 5 months working outside Canada. Participants receive a stipend to help cover their living and travel expenses.
Canadian Resource for Democracy and Human Rights (CANADEM )
CANADEM is a non-profit agency dedicated to advancing international peace and security through the recruitment, screening, promotion and rapid mobilization of Canadian, and international expertise. CANADEM runs a volunteer/internship program that specifically assists Canadians in launching their international career. Additionally, they publish career resources, direct from the field, free of charge.
Canadian Sport Leadership Corps Program, International Development through Sport
The Canadian Sport Leadership Corps (CSLC) program uses the development through sport concept to address social issues in Africa and the Caribbean. The 8-month CSLC placements are offered to recent Canadian university graduates who have been positively influenced by sport and are prepared to share their experience and expertise in developing countries.
DFAIT Youth International Internship Program
Young Professionals International (YPI) provides young people with a first, paid, career-related international experience through work placements abroad (Canadians and Permanent Residents).

International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience (IAESTE)
Provides students at Canadian universities and colleges with technical experience abroad, related to their studies.Most placements are for 8-12 weeks during the summer, although a few may be available for longer periods and at other times of the year. Students are responsible for their own travel arrangements and costs.
International Institute for Sustainable Development
The Young Canadian Leaders for a Sustainable Future Program (YCLSF) is part of the Youth International Internship Program (YIIP). The program includes a 2-week training session in Winnipeg on building sustainable futures, a international work placement (6–8 months) and a career enhancement session (1 week) in Winnipeg after completing the placement.
InterUniversity Centre Canada

Mennonite Economic Development Associates (MEDA)
MEDA is an association of Christians in business and the professions who share their faith, abilities, and resources to address human needs through economic development. The length of the work assignment in country is 6 months. In addition, the intern will participate in a 1-week orientation and training in Waterloo, Ontario and be required to debrief and report back to MEDA staff in Waterloo upon return to Canada (ages of 19 to 30).
Netcorps Canada: International (page no longer belongs to NetCorps)
NetCorps Canada International offers volunteer internships in developing countries to young people with appropriate skills in information and communication technologies. These internships of approximately 6 months are implemented by some of Canada's largest volunteer-sending international development agencies.
Rooftops Canada/Abri International Young Professional Intern Program
This international development program of cooperative and social housing organizations in Canada is looking for recent graduates for 6-month internships in South Africa, Cameroon, Tanzania, India, or the Philippines. Each intern receives a stipend to cover travel and living expenses for the 6-month overseas placement, starting in July or August.
Shastri Youth Internship Program
The Shastri Youth Internship Program is designed for young Canadians to work with their respective host organizations in both Canada and India to define a clear work-plan and set up timelines for internship projects in India. Each internship will have a training period (1–2 months) in Canada followed by overseas assignment (5–6 months) in India.
United Nations International Computing Center
The United Nations International Computing Centre (ICC) has a number of places for final year or recently graduated students specializing in information technology or other relevant disciplines.
United Nations Headquarters Internship Programs
Graduate students who are interested in doing an internship at the UN Headquarters in New York and are currently enrolled in a degree granting program in a graduate school are eligible to apply. The program is offered on a 2-month basis 3 times a year.
