Hungary Work Study Program Details

The Trip

Budapest Work Study is a six-week long program, during which University of Lethbridge students work and study in Hungary. During this time, the students live in Budapest and work for either Hungarian or multinational companies.

The work study group is scheduled to depart late June and return mid-August (dates are still approximate and may vary slightly) . Tentative dates: June 30 – Aug 11, 2018

Cost

The estimated cost of the 6-weeks trip for Canadian students is $2,350 plus cost of tuition for MGT 4640 & ECON 3850. The program fee covers accommodation in an air conditioned modern building with swimming pool and fitness facilities, securing work placement, gift to employer, one group cultural tour, commuting costs and weekly seminars. The fee does not include airfare and food during the program in Hungary. Students are also responsible for the cost of travel health insurance for travel in Hungary. Candadian students eligible for group travel grant.

Practicums

Work placements are usually research project based. Examples of past student-directed projects include: working on key elements of the Canada European Union Economic Trade Agreement (CETA) market entry research for different industries, writing business plans for a variety of businesses, financial analysis for diversified companies, developing marketing plans, interviewing possible international student applicants (higher education).

Accommodations

Students and University of Lethbridge instructors will stay in a modern residence complex in the 10th district of Budapest – an easy distance to the buzz of the city center. The Residence Center offers comfortable, furnished, air-conditioned accommodation for over 400 students. All rooms are equipped with a private bathroom. Bed linen is provided, but not towels and toiletries. Wireless Internet access is available in the whole Residence Center. The Center is run as a hotel-type service and students can find many other facilities such as:

  • a cafeteria and a bar 
  • a sports center with swimming pool, sauna and fitness room
  • basketball/football court, tennis court
  • on every floor there is a TV lounge with a stove, coffee machine, a microwave oven, grill oven, kettle and refrigerators, as well as a small kitchen (kitchen utensils not provided) 
  • laundry with washing machines and dryers in the basement
