We are here to help you.

Access to Library Materials

If you are registered for classes, your library privileges will be automatically updated at the beginning of the semester. Your U of L campus ID card acts as your library card; be sure to get it a.s.a.p. You will receive your campus ID card during orientation at the start of your program. However, if you need a replacement card, you can have your picture taken at the Edmonton campus office (1100, 10707 - 100 Avenue). Your card will be produced on the Lethbridge campus and returned to the Edmonton campus office within two weeks.

The campus ID card is required if you are borrowing materials in person at the Lethbridge campus library or if you are using either The Alberta Library (TAL) card or COPPUL card to borow materials from other libraries (see below for information on obtaining these cards.)

Borrowing privileges for M.Sc.(Mgt) students on the Edmonton Campus are detailed in Borrowing Package I. Please note that loan periods do not extend beyond the expiration date of your borrowing privileges for the semester.

When you find an item in the library catalogue that you want to borrow, select the REQUEST button from the top or bottom menu bar:

The system will ask you for your Username and Password. Click submit and the request will be forwarded to our Document Delivery Services section. They will send the item to the Edmonton campus office; someone from that office will contact you when they receive the item for you to pick up. If you do not pick it up within two weeks, the item will be returned to the U of L library. When you pick up an item from the Edmonton office, please be sure to note the due date and return the item to their office at least five days before it is due. Items must be back to the U of L library (Lethbridge campus) before the due date or fines will be assessed.  Main library items may be renewable; you can renew online by going to your library record.

If you have any questions about this service, please contact Document Delivery Services at lib.ddsl@uleth.ca

Connecting to Electronic Resources

When connecting to the library resources from off campus, you will be prompted for your username and password before you are granted access to any of our licensed databases or e-books.  This is the same username and password that you use to access the Bridge, your e-mail, etc.

Interlibrary Loans

If you identify a book or journal that is not in the U of L Library collection and is not in a library in Edmonton, you may request an Interlibrary Loan. Complete the ILL form which is accessible from the Library Home Page under the Self-Serve menu. The U of L library will borrow the item from another library and send it to the Edmonton campus office. That office will contact you when they have received the item. Interlibrary loan items have a loan period of four weeks which includes the mailing time and are non-renewable. You can find information on the policies governing the ILL service here

The Alberta Library (TAL) Card

Along with your U of L library privileges, you can obtain TAL card when you visit the library during your orientation or from the Edmonton campus office. This card gives you borrowing privileges at most publicly-funded libraries in Alberta, including the University of Alberta, Grant MacEwan College Learning Resources Centre, Edmonton Public Library, and many others. You can see the full list of libraries at http://www.thealbertalibrary.ab.ca/about/members.html

As long as all outstanding library fines have been paid, you may update your TAL card each semester.  Check your library record before going to the Edmonton campus office.

The COPPUL (Council of Prairie and Pacific University Libraries) Card

Your U of L library privileges also allow you to obtain a COPPUL card when you visit the library during your orientation or from the Edmonton campus office. This card gives you borrowing privileges at other universities in western Canada, including Athabasca University, the University of Alberta, and the University of Calgary. Borrowing privileges may be slightly more generous than you will receive with the TAL card.

As long as all outstanding library fines have been paid, you may update your TAL card each semester.  Check your library record before going to the Edmonton campus office.
