Spatial Data by Geography - Canada

Canadensys makes biodiversity information freely and openly available to everyone. It is a network of researchers, collectors, curators, information technologists, students, and educators that share data on the occurrence and identity of plant, animal, and fungal species in Canada. Members are active in the Canadian Biodiversity Information Facility (CBIF) and the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF).

Canadian Soil Information Service
Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada
Includes access to the National Soil Database (NSDB), Soil Interpretations data, Soil Survey Reports and all related documentation.

Canadian Wind Energy Atlas
Environment Canada
The Wind Energy Atlas web site aims at developing new meteorological tools to be used by Canada's wind energy industry. It offers the possibility to browse through and download the results of the numerical simulations that were run on all of Canada in order to determine its wind energy potential.

Geoscience Data Repository (GDR)
Natural Resources Canada
This repository is a collection of Earth Sciences Sector geoscience databases that is managed and accessed by a series of Information Services (GDRIS). The aim of the GDR is to standardize corporate databases and make them interoperable in order to increase the discovery, access and use of the geoscience information that the Sector has been mandated to collect and maintain.

Health Regions
Statistics Canada
Health regions are defined by the provinces and represent administrative areas or regions of interest to health authorities. This product contains correspondence files (linking health regions to latest Census geographic codes) and digital boundary files. (Use the "HTML" links for best access).

National Climate Data and Information Archive
Environment Canada
This site offers hourly, daily, monthly and normal data for meteorological stations across Canada. The variables included in the database for each station depend on the time step chosen but may include min/max/mean temperature, precipitation, wind speed/direction, dew point, relative humidity, visibility, atmospheric pressure and heat/cool degree days.

National Earth Observation Data Framework Catalogue
Natural Resources Canada
The NEODF-Cat enables public and government users to intelligently search and easily access the Government of Canada (GoC) Earth Observation (EO) raw and product archives managed by NRCan (i.e., products from a suite of satellites and airborne collections). The search capability features advanced geospatial "Region of interest" (ROI) operators, high-quality Quicklook images, and tools to manage queries and archive access.

NFI Canada's National Forest Inventory
Canadian Council of Forest Ministers
Canada's National Forest Inventory (NFI) monitors a network of sampling points covering one percent of Canada's land mass on an ongoing basis to provide accurate, timely and consistent information on the state and sustainable development of Canada's forests. Interactive tools are now available to query the National Forest Inventory and display results.

Polar Data Catalogue
Canadian Cryospheric Information Network (CCIN)
The Polar Data Catalogue is a database of metadata and data that describes, indexes and provides access to diverse data sets generated by Arctic and Antarctic researchers. The records follow Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) standard format to provide metadata exchange with other data centres. The records cover a wide range of disciplines from natural sciences and policy, to health and social sciences. This geospatial search tool is available to the public and researchers alike and allows searching data using a mapping interface or other parameters.

Scientific Data and Products
Fisheries and Oceans Canada
Oceanographic information and data collected and aggregated by the Department of Fisheries and Oceans. Data is collected through several national and international programs.
