While some sites may refer you to subscription databases (check to see if we subscribe at the U of L to gain access), lots of general information and links to free sites as well.

A federated search engine designed for business researchers to access information from a multitude of credible sources. Rather than doing a Google search, Biznar helps to narrow down the result list to credible, relevant sites. While the search engine is still in beta, this might be a worthwhile site to complement searches done of commercial databases to find valuable information hidden in the 'deep web'.
Part of the World News Network, one of the largest international news sites on the Internet, Business Daily provides a great overview of current business and economic news around the globe. Searchable in over 50 languages and with archives dating back to 2003, this site offers extremely comprehensive coverage of news in foreign languages. Several corporate links, but good content nonetheless.

This site features over 20,000 definitions and over 115,000 links between related terms providing a clear and concise description of business terms. You can search for a word, or browse by letter or subject.

Business Essentials on the Web
A beta wiki started by business librarians, this site purports to be "a one-stop shop listings site of essential websites for small businesses and entrepreneurs". A lot of UK-based resources, but will likely grow quickly as more librarians from around the world contribute.
The C.D. Howe Institute is Canada's leading nonpartisan public policy think tank. Since its inception in 1958, the Institute has stayed on the forefront of public policy debates in Canada. The Institute produces strong public policy leadership, timely research initiatives, and a reputation for producing independent, reasoned and relevant research.
Publications are available from the Institute's five research areas: Fiscal and Monetary Policy; Social Policy; Governance and Public Institutions; International and Trade; and Economic Growth and Innovation
Socian Science Research Network
The Social Science Research Network (SSRN) is devoted to the rapid worldwide dissemination of social science research and is composed of a number of specialized research networks, including accounting, economics, entrepreneurship, finance, leadership, management, marketing, and more. The site contains abstracts of over 228,300 scholarly working papers and forthcoming papers and an Electronic Paper Collection currently containing over 187,000 downloadable full text documents. While not all content is free, there is a lot that is, and is worthwhile checking out for working papers on your topic.
A free portal to current developments in the hospitality industry, Hospitality.net is largely unique for its international scope and focus on a wide swath of the sprawling hospitality industry rather than just one or two segments. The site links to a wide range of information including industry news and articles, financial news, market reports, conference announcements, executive job appointments, reports on industry associations, streaming audio and video content, supplier profiles, and much more. A word of caution: be sure to discern between advertising and information.

Searchable and browseable by several different parameters, Prendismo is a provider of digital video and podcast content and contains more than 14,000 video and audio clips on business and entrepreneurship.
TED is a small nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading, offering free videos on a variety of subjects, including business.
This product of Dun & Bradstreet contains profiles of more than 14,000 companies in the US as well as articles, advice, and business tools on credit, careers, disaster planning, franchises, finance and accounting, taxation, green business, manufacturing, labor and employment, starting a business, and technology and law. This site contains older versions of some reference books useful for Management students, many of which are owned by the library. But these versions are free on the web - just remember that many entries may be dated.
