Introduction

For Master of Counselling & M ED (Counselling Psychology) students:

This guide is an introduction to information resources pertaining to counselling psychology.  It is aimed primarily at graduate students in counselling psychology programs, but students enrolled in other degree programs who are studying topics related to counselling may also find this guide useful.

Electronic Resources: 

Because many Education graduate students conduct their studies off-campus, the counselling psychology resources presented in this guide are mainly available online, and include such things as:

The University of Lethbridge Library also holds thousands of other counselling psychology resources (books, journals, reference resources) in print. Use our Library catalogue to look for all types of materials (including online, print and audio-visual).

Library Privileges:

To access University of Lethbridge Library electronic resources (e.g. enter an electronic database or view an e-book) you need to have privileges established. You should have Library privileges when you are registered as a current University of Lethbridge student.

Electronic Books

Searching the Library Catalogue: Electronic books are organized in our Library Catalogue the same way as print books. Searching can be done by Keyword, Author, Title or Subject Heading.

Advanced Keyword -- Limiting Searches to e-books: To ensure that you find e-books in the Catalogue, follow these steps:

  1. From the Library homepage, click on Advanced Keyword (just below the main Catalogue search box). This will take you to an Advanced Keyword Search screen.
  2. On the Advanced Keyword Search screen, enter terms to search by Author, Title, Subject, etc.
  3. In the Limited to: section below the search fields, go to the Material Type drop-down menu and select E-BOOK.
Subject Heading Suggestions: Searching by Subject Heading can give your searches greater precision. In Advanced Keyword search mode, you can search for e-books under the following suggested subject headings (change Any Field: to SUBJECT: and under Material Type: choose E-BOOK)

Use the Library Catalogue to find mainly books (and hardbound journals) that pertain to counselling psychology.

The APA style manual (Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association) is available only in print.  You may borrow or use copies in the Library's collections.
