Frequently Asked Questions - Laptops

1. Can I plug in my laptop in the Library?
Yes, you can do this at any of the carrels that have a yellow arrow hanging overhead, in any of the Group Work Rooms or at any table where there is a plugin underneath it. 

Before you can hook up your personal laptop to an ethernet connection in the Library, you must go to the Solutions Centre (E610) where they will check your laptop for viruses, virus software package and current Windows updates.  If you've set up your laptop and are still experiencing problems hooking up in a carrel or group study room, please notify the Information and Research Assistance Desk staff on Level 10 or via Ask Us.

2. Does the Library have wireless access for my laptop?
Yes, wireless access for laptops is available on all levels of the Library to all users.

3. Can I plug in my laptop in the Group Study Rooms?
Yes, you can. You must either bring your own cables or sign out Ethernet cables from the General Services Desk on Level 10.

4. Do I have to bring my own cables to connect my laptop?
You may bring your own cables or sign out Ethernet cables from the General Services Desk on Level 10.

5. Can I book a laptop?
Yes, you can book a laptop. You can either book it yourself through the Library Catalogue or ask the General Services Desk staff on Level 10 to book one for you (403-329-2265). To book one yourself go to the Library Catalogue > search by Subject Heading laptop computers, click on the appropriate one > Book an item and follow the instructions.
