Fort Ellice



Fort Ellice was a Hudson's Bay Co. post was built near the confluence of the Assiniboine and Qu'Appelle rivers in 1831 and named after a senior member of the HBC London Committee and British MP. The more elaborate structure was built in 1862 but by the time the Mounties arrived it was in decline as the HBC had relinquished control of the north west.
