Dr E.V. Spackman Photograph Collection

Dr. Spackman was born in Peterson, Morgan County, Utah in 1894 and moved with his family to Stirling, Alberta in 1900. He graduated from the Minnesota School of Medicine in 1927 and after interning started his medical practice in Lethbridge in 1929.

Besides showing his artistic talent with experimental works, this series of pictures shows southern Alberta as it was in earlier time as well as farther away locations a man with his interests visited during the 1940s, 50s and 60s.

The Spackman Photographic Collection — a Gift to the Community

If you were given the Spackman Photographic collection how would you use it to better the community?

Interested groups or individuals are being asked to submit proposals telling what they would do with the complete Spackman Collection.

Proposals will be judged on the written details and how the project will benefit the community. Only written proposals will be accepted.

Example: A local youth group's proposal might be that they would donate the originals (so the collection is kept together) to the local museum and sell the duplicates as a money making effort for their organization (… enough chocolates already).

This project was launched January 11, 2011 (1/11/11)

Proposal Deadline is 11 a.m. November 11, 2011 (11/11/11)

The winner will be announced within a few days.

Address your proposal to:

Historical Research Centre, 1115 8 Ave. S., Lethbridge, AB T1J1P7.
