The actual time required to cross Palliser's Kananaskis Pass (Elk Pass) and North Kananaskis Pass is of significance and must not go unmentioned. Palliser's Report briefly reads ---we reached the height of land [pass]---[and] remained here for the rest of the day---. There is no suggestion of a long or difficult ascent.

Kananaskis Country guidebooks list:

the hike to Elk Pass as 5.8 km with a height gain of 213 m.

the hike to North Kananaskis Pass as 17.4 km with a height gain of 655 m
