Peter and Mary his lifelong companion had 14 children.

Although Fidler's amazing explorations seemed to have gone unnoticed his desire to provide for his family along with his meticulous organiztional skills resulted in one of the most famous wills in our history.

Fascinated with compounding interest, money left in the executor's hands and invested on Consols (akin to treasury bills) was to remain so until the next century. Clause 7 read "All my money - placed in public funds - with interest - added to the capital and continue so untiI August 16th, 1969 (I being born on that day two hundred years before)."

At that time the money was to be paid to male heirs of his youngest son and namesake Peter Fidler.
