Sketchbook III Presentations - George Dawson

In 1993 Sketchbook III was presented the Geological Survey of Canada in Calgary and to Barbara J. Sparrow, Minister of Energy, Mines and Resources for Canada in Ottawa.

The Minister replied:

This is a most unique way of bringing Canada's history to life for school children, and giving them a personal connection with one of our country's lesser known heroes. Of all pioneering individuals who served the Geological Survey during the early years, G.M. Dawson was certainly one of the most compelling, and I am pleased to see him and his work with the survey chosen as the subject for Sketchbook III.

Please relay to the students how much I enjoyed their artwork. The imagination they brought to their interpretations of an early geologist's life in the Canadian wilderness was a pleasure.

How do I participate in the student Sketchbook Project?
