Borrowing Privileges - Package I

Applies to individuals who are currently:

1. enrolled in the M.Ed. or M.Sc. (Mgt) program, or in the Master of Counselling program for which 75% or more of the program instruction/study places the individual at an off-campus location that is more than 90 kilometers outside the city limits of Lethbridge (including the University of Lethbridge Edmonton Campus), or
2. enrolled in a graduate program other than the M.Ed. for which 75% or more of their studies or coursework places them temporarily at an off-campus location that is more than 90 kilometers outside the city limits of Lethbridge.*
3. enrolled in the University of Calgary (Lethbridge Division) Master of Social Work program for which 75% or more of the program instruction/study places the individual at an off-campus location that is more than 90 kilometers outside the city limits of Lethbridge

*Students in category B. above, must provide the Library with a form completed by their course instructor or study supervisor verifying their temporary need for extended library service.

Annual Fee:

• none

NOTE: Loan periods are for the period specified or to the expiration date of your borrowing privileges, whichever comes first.

Loan limits:

• unlimited items from reserve collections
• specific items may not be available at certain times of the year, based on high-demand
• Curriculum Laboratory collections;
  • limit of 5 items at one time from Curriculum Laboratory collections
  • the following types of materials are not available for loan by distance users: Art prints and art bin materials, reference, fiction, oversize and picture file materials
  • all Curriculum Laboratory materials are subject to variable, discretionary loan periods when in high demand by students enrolled in the teacher-education program

Fines Payment:

• all outstanding fines must be paid in full before library privileges are updated
• fines payment may be made by:
  • using Internet or telephone banking (enter your University ID number as the Account number)
  • mailing a cheque to:

Holds/Recalls/Bookings:

• holds/recalls accepted for items currently on loan to another borrower
• holds accepted for items with a status of IN PROCESS or ON ORDER
• holds accepted for items listed with an RSTOR (Off-site Main Circulating collection) location
• holds/recalls not accepted on reserve materials
• bookings accepted for audiovisual software
• bookings not accepted for audiovisual hardware

Interlibrary Loan:

NOTE: Some restrictions apply: Distance M.Ed. (including Distance Master of Counseling program, other Graduate Students studying at a distance, distance Master of Social Work.

• number of fully subsidized requests filled per fiscal year = 0.5 X Quota*
• cost per filled request over per user quota = average lending fee paid by the University Library to lending institutions**. 
• Library may restrict requests to Canadian locations

* Quota is established on an annual basis according to the available budget, average cost of the lending fees and the number of eligible users. Quota will be prorated for appointments of less than a year in duration.

** The average lending fee is established on an annual basis in conjunction with the establishment of Quota.
