A Federal Court decision released on July 12, 2017 in the Access Copyright v. York University case addresses Phase I issues of this complex case which was bifurcated into two phases in July 2014. In consultation with other universities, the U of L is reviewing this recent ruling, which has implications for educational fair dealing. The U of L community will be kept apprised as information becomes available.
In the meantime, we continue to operate under the current U of L fair dealing guidelines. Assistance for faculty and instructors in clearing copyright for course materials continues to be available from the University Copyright Advisor office at copyright@uleth.ca or 403-332-4472.
