A new collection, Picture Butte Scrapbooks, has been added to our Digitized Collections. Some information about the collection:
"Jean Anne Drake knew the importance of daily happenings in our lives, and how it relates to the future. She patiently scanned the pages of the Lethbridge Herald and the Sunny South News newspapers for the past fifty years. Hundreds of clippings of local events she saved and pasted into her treasured scrapbooks. These pages tell a unique story about an interesting past of our Picture Butte of yesterday. Historical facts have been preserved so that we can look back in time and appreciate the many happenings which took place in the daily lives of the people in this area.
Her 72 scrapbooks from 1957 to 2003 will be even more valuable as times goes on. Her family presented them to the Picture Butte Library, so that they can be enjoyed by many other readers.
Jean Anne also took time to keep a record of information on the Lions' clubs' annual calendar. She kept up present day records of births, marriages and deaths which were then passed onto the Lions' Club to ensure that the information was up to date on the community calendars."
