1. How do I request an Interlibrary Loan?
You can submit your request by filling out the Interlibrary Loan Request Form available from our Library home page. Just mouse over Self-Serve, then click on Request Interlibrary Loan. [More]

2. How long will it take to get the item through Interlibrary Loan?
The time varies from hours to months, depending on the request type (copy or loan), the location of the lending library, the speed with which the lending library fills the request and the delivery method used.  Journal articles arrive electronically to the requester's email and thus may arrive sooner than other items such as books, microfilm, videos, etc. which arrive via courier. 3. If an item from our Library is checked out, can I request it through Interlibrary Loan?
No, you cannot request it through Interlibrary Loan. However, you can place a hold on the item at the General Services Desk on Level 10 and you will be notified via email when the item is returned.

4. How much does it cost to get an item through Interlibrary Loan?
Free Interlibrary Loan requests for the U of L Community are provided according to a quota based on number of requests per user. To view your quota, click here.

5. Where do I return the material I received on Interlibrary Loan?
Interlibrary Loan material must be returned to the General Services Desk on Level 10 on or before the due date.

6. Where can I get general information about requesting material on Interlibrary Loan?
Interlibrary Loan Guidelines are posted on our Library homepage. Just mouse over Services, then Interlibrary Loan and click on Borrowing Guidelines.


7. My interlibrary loan is available for borrowing, can someone else check it out or pick it up for me?
No, interlibrary loans can only be borrowed by the original requester—they cannot be borrowed or transferred to another patron.
