Program Information

You are required to fill in all blanks with a red asterisk (*).

The International Centre for Students is looking for University of Lethbridge students who are interested in becoming Peer Partners to Mexican and Japanese exchange students visiting the University of Lethbridge. Peer Partners will be asked to commit to spending one to two times a week (this is flexible) with their visiting student. For more information please contact International Centre at 403-329-2053 or summer.programs@uleth.ca.

Peer Partner Expectations

Peer partners must:

  • Undergo a peer partner orientation (dates and times to be determined based on peer partner availability)
  • Spend time with their student at least one or two times a week during mutual free time (for example, shopping, hiking, sports, movies, pubs, and music/cultural events). Note that some of the peer partner socialization time may be done within the program itself.  Information on the events that peer partners will be invited to will be provided during the orientation session.
  • Attend an Introduction/Icebreaker activity
  • Engage actively with the visiting student during any interactions to help ensure the visiting student enjoys his/her time in Canada and to help reduce any language/cultural barriers.

Peer Partners will receive a letter of reference from the International Centre based on participation as described above. If a peer partner cannot fulfill these expectations at any point in the program, let us know as soon as possible so that a replacement can be found.

The following information will be used by the International Centre in order to match you with a visiting student.
