The University has a number of agreements with software companies to offer discounts on the most common types used in education - for both University-owned machines and at-home use, the latter of which is available in the IT Store. Microsoft Office and Adobe are the most ubiquitous and therefore also the best understood and supported software by Information Technology Services' technicians.
However, the IT Store offers a variety of other software provided through Kivuto, the software distributor that provisions the sale and downloads of the different products, also at discounted academic pricing intended for personal/at-home use.
- Parallels Desktop 9 for Mac - enables Windows to run on Macintosh computers
- SPSS and Systat - Statistics programs for Windows and Mac
- EndNote X7 for Windows and Mac - writing and research-related software for academia
- and many other products related to data analysis, photo, video and design, information security
It is important to read all descriptions and system requirements before purchasing these products. Not all software is supported by IT Services because of the vast range of knowledge and skills required to assist with their integration, use and troubleshooting.
If you have questions related to the purchase of these products, feel free to contact the Solutions Centre at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at (403) 329-2490.
