University Academic Pension Plan and Public Service Pension Plan Policies and ProceduresLeaves:1. Leaves with Partial Pay: During a leave with partial pay, an employee may contribute to the pension plan based on full salary. The employee will be responsible for the employer and employee portions of the difference between the partial salary and full salary if the leave is purchased. (PSPPA 370/93 14(1)). 2. Leave without Pay (no contribution during leave): If the employee purchases the leave, they will be responsible for paying the employee and employer portions of the premiums during leaves without pay; eg. Maternity leave, personal leave, study leave, etc. (PSPPA 370/93 15(3)(a),(b)). 3. Leaves without Pay (contributions paid in advance during leave): During a leave without pay, an employee may contribute to the pension plan based on full salary. The employee will be responsible for the employer and employee portion of the premiums. (PSPPA 370/93 15(6)).
