Training and Professional Supplement

POLICY:
The University will support Executive Directors in the acquisition of knowledge or skills necessary to achieve institutional objectives through training and professional supplement programs. Educational requirements for each Executive Director position are established in the position description. Additional training and development requirements and implementation plans will be established by the President/Vice-President, as applicable, in discussion with the Executive Director. A reasonable time frame for completion of the training will be established and compensation provided if the cost is beyond the limit of the professional supplement. Executive Directors are responsible for pursuing self-development alternatives that address current and future organizational needs.
PROCEDURE:
PROFESSIONAL SUPPLEMENT

The University recognizes that both the organization and the individual benefit from activities that support and encourage the professional development of employees. This allowance is intended to motivate interest and provide opportunities for continuous learning in a changing university environment. The Professional Supplement is provided for the period of July 1 to June 30 and is determined by the President/Vice-President.
Eligibility:
All Executive Directors are eligible for the Professional Supplement.
Fund:

The Professional Supplement is provided for each full-time Executive Director and pro-rated for term appointments where applicable. The Professional Supplement is provided each academic year (July to June) applicable to job related or career development expenditures. The amount is reviewed and subject to change each year. Any Professional Supplement funds unused by Executive Directors who terminate employment, as determined by University regulations, will be allocated to the Tuition Scholarship/Executive Directors' Discretionary Fund.

Professional Supplement Claims should be submitted using the online
claim system. The terms and conditions of the Policy are available
on the Financial Services webpage. They are to be filled out by
the individual.
