Option Email

Single Students

After August 1st, once all residence facilities are full, students will receive an email notifying them that a residence offer appears unlikely.  Through this Option Email, students on the waitlist are asked to choose one of the following 3 options and communicate their decision to Housing Services in writing. Email:

Single Students - Not a First-Come/First-Serve System

The process of assigning campus housing is a complex one. Our overall goal is to find an acceptable balance for first, second, third and fourth year students within appropriate facilities for year of study.

Consequently, we do not process applications on a first-come/first serve basis. If we did so, all of the second and third year students would be applying for rooms one year in advance and all of the residences would be full by mid-September.

Right to Re-Assign

Housing Services reserves the right to re-assign individuals to different rooms and/or floors at any time, as required.

  • Single Student Residents with 8-month contracts (2 semesters) can apply for Summer Housing, but may be reassigned to a different room.
  • Single Student Residents with 12-month contracts may have to move at the end of April in order for us to repair or paint the facilities.

Note: Roommate information will not be provided prior to move-in.

Receiving Housing Offer

Housing room assignments are made based on compatibility and lifestyle selections made during the online application process.

Available inventory is determined by type of requests that we received.

Once we have extended a Housing Offer of Accommodation there are a number of important steps that you must attend to.

Note: Spring applications are not accepted until after Fall assignments have been made.

Application Deadlines

Single Students Start Your Application in September

Each year our online housing application portal allows us to begin accepting applications on September 15 for the following Academic Year.

Remember that, you can apply for housing, even if you have NOT yet been officially admitted into the University. (An Offer of Accommodation can only be sent once a student has ACCEPTED their offer of ADMISSION to the U of L)
