Application Update / Application Process

Friday, July 20, 2007

Residence Services has experienced a significant number of applications for the 2007/2008 Academic term.

To date; 1178 applications have been received for the 588 beds spaces in campus residence.

Our staff continues to follow the same room offering system that has been in place for the past several years.

Our process is as follows -

  1. Student leaders (Resident Assistants) and award winners are offered room assignments.
  2. Lottery Draw – Returning Students
    • All returning student applications received by January 15th are entered into our lottery draw where 70% of the bed allocations are assigned to this group.
    • The remaining 30% of beds are offered on a ‘first come, first serve’ basis, compatibility being considered.
    • All remaining names will be on the waitlist until the option letter is sent by mid July. (See below for option letter)
  3. Lottery Draw – New Students / New High School Students
    • All new & new high school student applications received by April 1st are entered into our lottery draw where 70% of the bed allocations are assigned to these two groups.
    • The remaining 30% of beds are offered on a ‘first come, first serve’ basis, compatibility being considered.
    • All remaining names will be on the waitlist until the option letter is sent by mid July.  (See below for option letter)

Please note:  There is an offer process.  If a student does not accept their offer, the next compatible student on the waitlist is contacted and this process repeats itself until all bed spaces are offered and accepted.

* Once all rooms are filled an option letter is sent (via email) to those students who remain on the waitlist giving them the following options:

  1. Remain on the waitlist,
  2. Cancel the current application; or
  3. Transfer the application to the Spring semester
