Hello everyone!

Well it seems the flu season has begun. A few notes on illness and health issues:

1) For mild flue symptoms or other health concerns, you can do self-care and try Over-The-Counter medications. Remember to wash your hands often and get lots of rest. If you are missing school, check with your professor about sickness/illness notes. If one is needed, you must see a physician or nurse for that note WHILE YOU ARE ILL. You can also help the hard-working care-taking staff by helping out with some cleaning around your room and bathroom. Remember, most viruses can live up to two days on moist surfaces, so a little cleaning of sink/shower/surfaces once a day wouldn't hurt. Saliva carries a lot of viruses, so remember not to share toothbrushes, cups, musical instruments, etc.

2) You can call the Health Centre at 329-2484 to book a physician's appointment if you have health problems of any kind. The nurse is also available to discuss your health concerns; the Health Centre is open Monday through Friday 8:30am to 12 noon and 1pm to 4pm.  There are also several walk-in clinics around town in the evening.

3) Of course, you know that housing staff will assist you as best we are able. If you have health concerns where you need assistance, plase call the Housing Office.

4)General health tips -- Remember to stay organized so that you aren't pulling all-nighters. Get at least six hours of sleep a night (hopefully 8 hours), drink lots of water, eat some fruits and vegetables every day, and consider taking a multivitamin. Remember that getting help when you need it is a sign of strength and resilience.

Stay Healthy!
