Important News for Prospective Students - September 2006

Thursday, November 03, 2005

One question that has been asked a lot lately by parents and students who plan on attending the University for Fall 2006 is when should these students be applying for residence as they have not been accepted to the University yet. We know this is a concern for many propective students and here is the answer....

It's very important that current high school students who plan on attending the University for September 2006 be applying for residence now. Under the rules set out by the Board of Governors we cannot offer a room until the student is accepted or conditionally accepted to the University. So why apply so early then right? Well the answer to that question is that all students who have applied for residence and have met the acceptance requirements as of April 1st 2006 will be put into the initial round of room offers. This first round is done by lottery however, the second round and all remaining room offers throughout the summer are done by date of application. Thus the importance to get those applications in as soon as possible.

Another very important question being asked is, "What if my son/daughter does not have an ID number yet?" Don't let this deter you from putting in your application. If filling out a written application, just put unknown in that field. If the student is applying online, it will not allow you to proceed without an ID number. In this case, please put nine 9's which will indicate to us we need to generate an ID number for this individual.
