The CWUAA proudly announces its 2009-10 men’s hockey awards winners and All-Stars, as selected by coaches of the seven Canada West teams.

MVP and the league’s Dave “Sweeney” Schriner Scoring Trophy winner Chad Klassen helped lead the Alberta Golden Bears to an impressive 23-4-1 conference record, good for first place and home ice advantage through the Canada West playoffs.

Breast Cancer Awareness Night a Huge Success

Lethbridge, AB-The evening of February 13,2010 was truly memorable for the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns basketball teams. Not only did both the women’s and men’s basketball teams emerge victorious over their archrival University of Calgary Dinos, ensuring both teams a playoff spot in the process, but the Horns raised $3,559.82 for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. This year’s total greatly surpasses the total of $500 raised during last year’s event.

Male Athlete of the Week:

Ryan Tarnava – Men’s Track

First-year thrower, Ryan Tarnava, after seeing continuous improvement throughout the season, had a personal best performance this past weekend in Windsor at the CIS Championships.

On his third of six throws Ryan set a new personal best by more than 80 centimeters with a distance of 16.27 meters. That throw earned him sixth place in the country.
