What is Public Health?
Public health is the art and science of promoting the health of the whole population through health promotion, health protection, disease/injury prevention, and efforts to improve quality of life. Public health professionals address both individual lifestyles and the living conditions that enhance or negatively influence population health status.
What can I do with a Bachelor of Health Sciences, Public Health major?
Public health professionals work with a variety of organizations, both local and global, on developing and promoting means to protect and improve population health.
Graduates of the program will have the practical skills and the theoretical knowledge needed for employment in a wide range of non-clinical public health roles including a variety of settings and agencies, such as:
* NGOs (non-government organizations)
* Government agencies
* Specialized support groups for different populations/groups
* Health organizations
* Fitness organizations
* Community & outreach agencies
* Schools

This program is the first public health degree offered at the baccalaureate level in Alberta. Successful completion of the four-year program earns students a Bachelor of Health Sciences degree.
Scholarships and awards are available to Public Health students and include;
*Public Health Entrance Award - $2,000
*Faculty of Health Science Entrance and Relocation Scholarship - $1,000 - $2,000
*Public Health Travel Award - $1,000
