Title of Study: Adding Contingency Management to On-Line Treatment as Usual for the Treatment of Disordered Gambling

Principal Investigators: Dr. Darren R. Christensen, Executive Director Dee Ann Benard, Dr. Chad Witcher, and Dr. Trent Leighton

Who are we looking for? We are looking for people living in rural communities who are experiencing problems due to their gambling to participate in a research study. This study investigates the effects of providing small incentives for evidence of treatment success.

Participants will be randomly allocated to either regular counselling or regular counselling and small incentives.

All participants will receive free individual counselling from an experienced counsellor/therapist.

The counselling is delivered on-line.

What will I be asked to do? You will be asked to use a computer connected to the internet to complete tasks, answer questions, and see your counsellor. We will use cameras on the computers so both you and the counsellor can see each other. The first session you will complete the tasks and answer questions about yourself. The counselling sessions will last for 12 weeks. You can see your counsellor up to three times a week.

Participants will be asked to complete a range of assessments.

Compensation is provided.

This study has been approved by the University of Lethbridge’s Human Subject Research Committee. Participation is confidential.
