Anna Elgby, a University of Lethbridge nursing student who passed away suddenly this past December, was a remarkable young woman who was loved and respected by many at the University, Lethbridge College and throughout the wider community. Anna lived life with great passion and was the embodiment of what a nurse should be; thoughtful, compassionate and a true humanitarian caring for all those who entered her life.
On Saturday, March 9th a spring tea was held to celebrate Anna’s life and begin fund raising efforts for a scholarship bearing her name. The Anna Elgby Memorial Award will be given annually to a third year nursing student who demonstrates a passion for altruism. Through the generosity of family, friends, and the community $1,600 was raised that day, bringing total fund raising efforts to nearly $12,000. The goal of $25,000 has been set in the hopes that Anna’s scholarship will become endowed.
