Dr. david Gregory - Dean of Nursing, University of Regina

Keynote Speaker:  Dr. david Gregory RN PhD. 

David Gregory, RN, PhD, is Professor and Founding Dean, Faculty of Nursing, University of Regina.   Dr. Gregory is an Editor of the International Journal of Nursing Education Scholarship, the nursing profession’s first on-line journal.  He is also an editor of a forthcoming Canadian nursing fundamentals textbook.  David served on the Board of CASN; he also Chaired CASN’s Task Force on Patient Safety and Nursing Education.  David began his nursing career some 30 years ago by working as a community health nurse on an Indian Reserve in northern Manitoba—God’s Lake Narrows.   His research interests include Aboriginal health, nursing education and practice, and qualitative methodology. 

Dr. Barbara Paterson - Dean of Nursing, Thompson Rivers University

Closing Keynote Speaker: Dr. Barbara Paterson RN PhD.

Dr. Paterson is a renowned nurse educator and researcher. She is extensively published in the areas of student-centered nursing education, clinical nursing education, nursing research, and chronic illness management and care. She has been a visiting scholar in more than 12 universities worldwide in 9 nations and keynote speaker in over 75 international scholarly conferences. She has won national awards in recognition of excellence in university teaching and research. She was a pioneer in the field of meta-synthesis of qualitative research, leading the authorship of one of the first texts about this research method. She has held a prestigious position as Tier 1 Canada Research Chair, one of only two nurses in Canada to hold this position. Currently, she is the Dean of the Thompson Rivers University School of Nursing.
