May 1, 2013 Application Deadline for Fall 2013 Semester

May 1, 2013 is the deadline for submission of MA, MSc (excluding majors in Addictions Counselling, Health Sciences, and Nursing), MSc (Management) and PhD applications for admission for the Fall 2013 semester.

The School of Graduate Studies strongly encourages all application documents to be submitted in advance of the deadline so that there is sufficient time for applications to be assembled for review. This allows the process of application decisions to be made in a more timely manner.

Once an application has been received, applicants may log in to The Bridge to track the status of their applications as well as view any outstanding application documents. Applicants are encouraged to review this often once an application has been submitted.

Deadlines represent the end point in the process of submitting an application rather than the beginning of it. It is the responsibility of both supervisors and students to ensure that ALL application documentation be completed and submitted to the Registrar's Office and Student Services (ROSS) by the deadline of May 1, 2013. Applications that are incomplete by this date may not be considered or may be rejected based on incompletion.

**Note: If you plan to serve as an academic reference for an applicant, you will need to submit a letter of reference articulating the student's background preparation and suitability for graduate work as well as complete a Letter of Recommendation form.

Application Checklist for Students

Application Form (MA, MSc & PhD)

Official academic transcripts (including proof of graduation for the baccalaureate degree and transcripts of all post-baccalaureate work, if any).

Three academic references (each referee submits a letter of reference articulating the student's background preparation and suitability for graduate work as well as completes a Letter of Recommendation form and submits both to the Admissions Office. The applicant must have studied with at least one referee)

Applicant's Curriculum Vitae (c.v.)(include academic background, work experience, awards, scholarships, and publications)

A one-page Letter of Intent indicating in general terms the reasons, goals, or objectives for seeking a graduate degree in the chosen discipline

Financial Support documentation(financial assistance from external agencies or other sources, if any)

Evidence of English Language Proficiency must be presented by all applicants whose first language is not English (see the UofL Graduate Studies Calendar)

If additional documentation is required, the School of Graduate Studies will contact the applicant

Application Checklist for Supervisors

Program Proposal and Endorsement form (Part One and Part Two)

Letter of support including funding and resource information

Supervisor's Curriculum Vitae (c.v.) (if it has changed since it was last submitted to the School of Graduate Studies)

Appointment of Graduate Research Assistantship (RA) (Trust Funds) form must be submitted regardless as to whether or not the supervisor(s) will be able to provide funding in the form of an RA

Request to Take an Undergraduate Course at the Graduate Level form (if applicable)
