Medal Nominations

GOVERNOR GENERAL’S GOLD MEDAL FOR GRADUATE STUDIES

Each academic year, the Governor General’s Gold Medal is awarded to the graduate student with the highest academic standing over all. Supervisor assistance is sought in collecting information to be used in the selection of the recipient of the Governor General’s Gold Medal.

From the list of students graduating at the Fall 2012 or Spring 2013 Convocation from a University of Lethbridge Graduate Program, the Medal Committee (Graduate Council Executive) will select the recipient of that program’s Governor General’s Gold Medal using the appraisal information provided by you, the student’s supervisor, the student’s committee and/or other faculty members, and the external examiner, as well as (include a letter of reference with your appraisal form that highlights the students various strengths and accomplishments):

  • the student’s cv
  • transcripts
  • abstract
  • and thesis/research or project report.

Please complete the attached confidential appraisal form.

It is the supervisor’s responsibility to ensure that the supporting documentation for a nomination for the Governor General’s Gold Medal is provided to the respective Graduate Program office by APRIL 12, 2013

NOTE:
Because this form and the other accompanying documentation will also be used by each Graduate Program Committee to select that Program’s recipient of the Medal of Merit in that Program, only one set of this documentation need be submitted by supervisors who are proposing a candidate for both the Medal of Merit and the Governor General’s Gold Medal.
