Attention Graduates Students!

Health Canada is currently looking for recent or soon-to-be graduates with Masters, Ph.D and/or are pursuing Post-Doctoral research to staff various positions in our Health Products and Food Branch in the policy planning fields.

This Branch is home to a team of high calibre dedicated professionals working to help increase the availability of a range of therapeutic products such as pharmaceutical drugs, vaccines and medical devices which, in turn, help Canadians maintain and improve their health.  Before being offered for sale, these products are assessed for safety, efficacy and quality.  Predominately, this team reviews scientific evidence to determine whether any risks associated with their use are acceptable in light of potential benefits.   In addition and, as an integral part of the department’s efforts, we are seeking graduates with the potential to analyse policy options, consider legislative changes, the applicability of regulations, and to assist in briefing senior officials on the difficult issues facing a health based department.

An increase in numbers of products as well as added complexity from technological advancements and more sophisticated data create a challenging, stimulating, and rewarding work environment. Health Canada currently has opportunities for exciting careers in health product regulation including policy and planning.   We are looking for graduates with degrees in various domains such as, economics, sociology, psychology, law, business, public administration, and other related fields.

To meet current and future needs, Health Canada is creating an inventory of candidates, which managers will be able to access as needed for further assessment and possible job offers.  Current opportunities exist in the National Capital Region.  Preference may be given to Canadian Citizens.  Please indicate on your resume, the reason for which you are entitled to work in Canada:  Canadian citizenship, permanent resident status or work permit. If you wish to apply, please e-mail your resume and a one-page cover letter clearly indicating why you would be suitable for a position within Health Canada (e.g. education, and other related experience) to Graduates-Recruitment@hc-sc.gc.ca.  Please note that candidates who have completed the necessary requirements for their degree by December 2010 may be considered for employment opportunities prior to those who anticipate completing their degree in April 2011. In keeping with our commitment to diversity, we encourage persons with disabilities to apply.

Only those who are being considered further in the process will be contacted.

We look forward to receiving your application and thank you in advance for your interest in working at Health Canada.
