The Canadian Institutes of Health Research

The CIHR is comprised of thirteen Institutes of CIHR will together share responsibility for achieving the fundamental objective of CIHR:

"The objective of CIHR is to excel, according to internationally accepted standards of scientific excellence, in the creation of new knowledge and its translation into improved health for Canadians, more effective health services and products and a strengthened Canadian health care system."

Funding Opportunities

 The CIHR provides funding opportunities for four themes of health research:

• Biomedical
• Clinical
• Health systems services
• Social, cultural, environmental and population health
