Volunteers Needed for TECNOVATE 2016

Tuesday, April 26, 2016

TECTERRA is recruiting graduate students (Masters Degree or higher), preferrably with a degree in the sciences to participate as volunteers at TECNOVATE16, formerly known as the TECTERRA Geomatics Showcase. TECTERRA believes in supporting student opportunities, and this event will bring great value to each volunteer by providing students with the opportunity to network and build relationships with industry professionals, as well as a professional opportunity that they can add on their resume.

Possible duties may include (but are not limited to):

  •  Monitoring the registration desk
  •  Usher and greeter positions
  •  Lunch monitors
  •  Other general duties

TECTERRA is looking for a total of 20 volunteers, and ask that in addition to being available to volunteer on the tradeshow day (June 22), they are also available on (June 21) for the private professional training day for our portfolio companies. Mandatory attendance of a training session, which will take place in the beginning of June, will also be required.

In exchange for the volunteers’ time, TECTERRA will provide:

  •     Complimentary access to the tradeshow event ($75 value)
  •     All meals (lunch on both days)
  •     Custom TECNOVATE16 t-shirt
  •     Reference letter for professional assistance

The tradeshow includes sponsorship opportunities and exhibitors that go beyond TECTERRA-supported companies. There are 17 sponsors from a broad range of industry sectors, as well as exhibitors from across Canada that represent different facets of the geospatial industry. The tradeshow also includes two prominent Canadian keynote speakers – Calgary’s own Manjit Minhas, Co-Founder and CEO of Minhas Breweries and Distillery, and judge of CBC's Dragons' Den, along with venture capitalist and author, Leonard Brody.

Students interested in volunteering can apply for a position here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/6H5N2HB. Students selected will be contacted directly to schedule an interview.

The deadline to apply is: May 6, 2016
