Eligibility

All uLethbridge graduate students who are registered in a Masters or PhD program that satisfies research criterion for Tri-Council funding (SSHRC, NSERC, CIHR) and are in “good standing” are eligible to complete. A presenters 3MT presentation must be directly related to the student's research in the graduate program.  

A few things to note:

  • Presenters must compete in their first competition heat prior to defense of thesis/project and degree conferral
  • Presenters must register for the events (heats) and be eligible to present in person on the first day of the competition.
  • To advance in the competition presenters must be available to present in person at the finals.
    • If winner of U of L final competition is not available, the runner up will take his/her place if his/she satisfies eligibility criteria
  • Competition presenters must be willing to present in person at Western Regionals (April 28, 2017 at the University of Saskatchewan) and National 3MT (virtual competition, TBC, likely June 2017).
    • If winner of U of L final competition is not available, the runner up will take his/her place if his/she satisfies eligibility criteria

Student must compete in their first competition heat (February 28 - March 2nd, 2017) prior to defense of thesis/project and degree conferral Students become ineligible, in this case, upon receiving notification of degree conferral, even if they have not attended a graduation ceremony.

Visiting and exchange students, as wel as students on leave are also not eligible.
