New Media 3850 – The Dynamic Web

This project-based course explores the interactive environments in dynamic web applications. It integrates multiple current technologies and approaches for both commercial and artistic expression.

PREREQUISITE(S): NMED 3520

RECOMMENDED BACKGROUND: NMED 3380

New Media 3850 – Contemporary American Cinema

An overview of contemporary American filmmaking, including such prevalent forms as Hollywood, "indie" narrative, documentary, and amateur practices.

This course is open to all majors.

PREREQUISITE(S): 15 university-level courses (a minimum of 45.0 credit hours

New Media 3850 – Mobile Application Development

An exploration of the concepts and practices related to the design and development of applications for mobile devices, including smartphones and tablets.

PREREQUISITE(S): NMED 3520

RECOMMENDED BACKGROUND: NMED 3380

New Media 3850 – Narrative Development and Pre-Production

An exploration of script writing and the creative and practical processes necessary to facilitate pre-production of narrative short films and episodic web series.

NOTE: This course is strongly recommended for all students intending to take NMED 3510 - Narrative Production Techniques.

PREREQUISITE(S): NMED 3420

New Media 4850 – Writing for Comedy

Writing for comedy is serious business. Anyone can be funny but only a few can be comic. This course will teach you the important difference between the two.

Learn to write comedy for movies, television situation comedies, web series, sketch comedy, and stand up.

PREREQUISITE(S): NMED 3420 or NMED 3200 (or its equivalents) or Drama 2750

New Media 4850 – Video Game Production

An introduction to pre-production and production methods for creating video games. Students will gain an understanding of the video game production pipeline by participating as contributing members of a production team, producing a not-for-profit game.

PREREQUISITE(S): Either NMED 3850 – Game Design: Theory and Practice or NMED 3850 – Creative Foundations for Game Development
