For Transfer and Post-Diploma Performance Majors
Students in this major must take courses in acting, beginning with Drama 3310 (Acting: Scene Study I). To register for Drama 3310 you must pass an audition with the following requirements.
- Introduction. Submit a written introductory statement that expresses your interest in Drama 3310 (Acting: Scene Study I). You might address some of these ideas: what you want to learn in the course, skills you need to develop further, and your general ambitions for performance and the future. Maximum 500 words
- Monologue. Present a monologue from a published play that demonstrates your stage fundamentals, as well as your ability to create a character, play, intentions, and hold audience interest. You may present a monologue from any genre, form, or era.
- Performance Creation. Present a piece you created yourself that demonstrates your understanding of how to theatrically structure and stage your ideas. You may present any type of self-written monologue, movement piece, song, or any other form of theatrical performance. Maximum 2 minutes.
Auditions for the Fall 2013 Drama 3310 class are typically scheduled for the week prior to the first day of classes. Specific date TBA. Please contact the Drama Department at drama@uleth.ca or 403.394.3997 if you have any additional questions.
NOTE: If you are applying to the Post-Diploma BFA (Dramatic Arts)/BEd program, Drama 3310 (Acting: Scene Study I) is not a required course and an audition prior to entering the program is not required.
