The Department of Art offers unique opportunities to work closely with internationally active artists and scholars in an intimate setting as you pursue your path in art. We offer an exciting range of majors, allowing students to follow a program tailored to their needs. Among many fulfilling career paths that your degree in Art will prepare you for are professional artist, teacher, curator, and designer. Graduates from our programs leave with creative and critical thinking skills and applied experience that they will use throughout their lives.
Students in Art have access to spacious well-equipped facilities where they undertake projects with expert technical support, creative guidance, and critical dialogue. Smaller class sizes give you the opportunity to engage deeply with instructors who really get to know their students. You will gain professional experience through exhibition and curatorial opportunities in our art galleries and other forums. Art History and Museum Studies courses provide breadth and depth to your understanding of art and visual culture. Through our renowned Art Now and Architecture and Design Now visiting speakers series you will encounter numerous national and international artists, architects, curators and designers each year, with opportunities to interact in workshops and studio visits. The University of Lethbridge Art Gallery is home to an extensive collection that provides unique opportunities to gain valuable hands–on museum experience.
